Perhaps you came across a disaster, either by yourself or from a friend, that the house or apartment has get flooded because a water pipe did burst, a valve were leaking or the water hose from the washing machine or dish washer leaked or even worse, burst.

There are basically 2 ways to approach that challenge. One option is an appliance in place which is controlling permanent the water flow and shut off the main water valve there is a constant water flow for a given time. I wouldn't recommend this solution for an apartment. It is more to prevent uncontrolled water flow from the water connection outside on the road to the house after the counter. By design it need a time range from at least 1 hour constant flow before it shut down the main water supply. Otherwise it would disturb the usual water usage in the house like showering, bathing, irrigation, etc.

To avoid heavy water damage inside the house or apartment a solution with sensor(s) is required. They are placed usually on such places where a washing machine, a dish washer, a washbasin, a toilet and/or a bidet are, because there are small valves. Most often in the kitchen, the bathroom(s) and laundry room. Most often they are battery powered and been placed direct on the floor next to the items.

Those sensor(s) are trigger than a electric valve or motorized valve on the main water supply to shut off. Of course a message can be send to you via push message, SMS and/or email.

Of course both solutions can be combined, which is for houses my recommendation.

With this solution you can avoid heavy damage to your property and huge water bills.
